Limestone Lives

Limestone Lives, published by Indiana University Press, is based on oral history stories told by people who have lived and worked in the Stone Belt of south-central Indiana (USA), where some of the purest limestone deposits in the world exist. This book presents reflections on limestone and the human connections to the material itself. The design echoes limestone in the arrangement of text blocks, format and color scheme.

The book received several prestigious design awards including both a 50 Books/50 Covers Prize from the American Institute of Graphic Arts and a book design award from the Association of American University Presses.

A hand-printed and hand-bound version of the book was produced, prior to the trade edition, in a limited edition of fifty copies, and is available from Vamp & Tramp Booksellers.
